As I enter the 3rd trimester, I find myself wanting to buy less and less maternity items and make do with the basic pieces that I have purchased over the last few weeks and months. Sizing up in items like tops and dresses make getting dressed a little more fun because I feel like I can still wear normal clothing. And a big plus is that those items will work postpartum! I shared a try on in stories yesterday with a few great basic maternity items – maternity white denim, maternity skinny jeans, maternity leggings and a basic black maternity dress. These are all so easy to style many different ways to get the most wear out of these items. We all know pregnancy only lasts for so long and buying new items to fit a growing belly can get expensive. I found some great, affordable pieces to add to your closet that you will want to wear over and over!
One item I am glad I purchased is this black maternity dress. This is a great piece for wearing now with a denim jacket and sneakers and transitioning into spring and summer when it gets hot! I think it’s a dress every pregnant lady should have in their closet. I did purchase the size XS and wish I would have gone up to a size small. It’s so flattering and easy to dress up for date night with heels and a cute tote. I also threw a basic white button down over it with flip flops for out and about running errands. Super easy and very versatile!

3 basic items I knew I would get the most wear out of during my pregnancy are maternity white denim, maternity skinny jeans and maternity leggings. Finding ones that stayed up all day, that are comfortable and stretchy were the things I looked for when trying on.
White maternity jeans: This is the 4th pair of white denim I ordered and I’m so glad to have finally found a pair I really like! The other pairs that I tried out all had a really thick material and I could barely bend my legs in them. These are stretchy, soft and while the material is not as thick as the others, they are not see through at all. So happy to have found these for around $30!
Maternity skinny jeans: I purchased these jeans much earlier in the pregnancy and have worn them a ton with sweaters, blouses and will pair with the easy tee I am sharing below until the end of my pregnancy. Maternity jeans are not easy to find – we all want them to be comfortable, stretchy and easy to stand and sit in. I truly think these fit all of those requirements! Although a touch short in length on me at 5’6″, they will look cute paired with sneakers and sandals going into the spring.
Maternity leggings: These were the first maternity item I purchased around 12 weeks and have been worn a few times a week ever since. They are stretchy, stay up while wearing them and have washed really well!
Styling options: white tee (size M) | white maternity denim (size S) | neutral flats | maternity denim (size 25) | sneakers | denim jacket (size XS)
leggings (size S) | tennis shoes | jelly bangle bracelet
For a non-maternity top, this white tiered top has been on repeat and so easy to wear! As you can see, I styled it with all 3 maternity items above. I did size up to a medium and I can see myself wearing it throughout the rest of my pregnancy. Highly recommend this one! If you are pregnant during the summer time and will be finding yourself at the pool quite often, I highly recommend this maternity one shoulder swimsuit! I have worn the regular version of this swimsuit the last 2 years, so this was an easy choice for me. The fit is great, so flattering and I’m actually looking forward to wearing it in a few weeks when we start going to the pool. I paired it with a sarong for additional coverage and because it’s cute! Sadly, it is from last year but I linked a few sarong options below.
Beach/Pool Outfit: maternity swim | sarong (old; similar here and here)
I’m starting to think about what to bring to the hospital with me and items I will want to wear once we are home. This nursing nightgown will be packed and can already tell will be worn a ton after baby! The buttons are functional so it will make it easy for breastfeeding. Outfit: nursing/maternity nightgown (size S)
For an item that’s non-maternity, I am so thankful that dresses that are a touch oversized are in these days! I shared this midi floral dress in last month’s Amazon try on and absolutely love how it looks with the bump. I sized up to a small in this one to accommodate the growing belly. After wearing it yesterday, I think this will be the winner dress coming home from the hospital. Outfit details: floral dress (size S) | bracelet
And lastly, these are the maternity/nursing bras I have ordered. With over 20K reviews it was a no brainer! Looking forward to trying these out!
Have a wonderful Thursday!
