Happy Valentine’s Day!! What does everyone do to celebrate? Andrew and I will be staying in! We prefer to avoid the crowds and get to sleep early. I hope you are spending it with someone special! I also hope you had a great weekend! I went back home to Louisiana for a quick trip and it was wonderful! It was so nice seeing my family and attending a Mardi Gras ball! It sadly rained the whole day Saturday, so I didn’t get any good pictures of my dress! But I am back in Florida and so happy to be back with my hubby and sweet boy!
Today, I am talking about Spring transition and having basic staple pieces you can reach for when you don’t know what to wear. Over the past few months, I have been really cautious of what I buy – wanting to add more staple pieces I can mix and match to wear over and over again. I mentioned before that I used to buy whatever I thought was just cute and didn’t put any thought into what I would wear it with. If you follow me on Instagram, you will notice I post things I can wear different ways, therefore you will sometimes see certain items reposted. And I am totally ok with that! I am not afraid of being a repeat offender! I think you get the most of out something you buy if you can wear it different ways. That’s where buying staples come in! I am going to show you a few different staples I am all about for the Spring. Including this dress I picked up a few weeks ago! I had my eye on it for a while thinking about all the different ways I can wear it. When I saw it in Nordstrom in this color, I knew I had to get it. It’s under $50 and comes in a ton of colors! This is a dress you can easily dress up for work, take it out on a date night or wear it dressed down for weekend wear.

This next look is more of a weekend look. I love adding denim jackets over my dresses. I will even throw them on with a pair of white jeans and a tee. When I was working in corporate, the office I worked in was more laid back and I could dress pretty casual. I wore this jacket pretty much every single day. My husband would always make a comment – oh that jacket again?! Ha! But it’s so versatile and easy to throw on with everything! The only thing I don’t wear it with is jeans.

Hopefully these options I provided will help you mix and match different pieces. I truly believe a few of these pieces are must haves – a chambray top, a denim jacket, a white tee, a striped top and a basic black dress (the dress I am wearing today comes in black!).
Note: I did not include bottoms because that will be in a separate post! I love my denim shorts but they are not available anymore. I have a post planned to round up the best after I try all of them on. So maybe this post will be a series? Would ya’ll like to see more? And as I’m writing this I am thinking how fun it would be to show you all the different ways to wear those staple pieces I listed above with bottoms.
If there is anything else you would like to see, let me know! I am so excited for Spring because while I do love sweaters, I can’t wait to wear lots of blues and whites around here! They are just so pretty! Ok and now I’m rambling!
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your loved ones!!
