Can you believe summer is already over? I really don’t know where it went. I can remember looking at the calendar at everything we had planned and it went by in a flash! It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Life Lately, but the little guy started school yesterday and it was definitely something to document. We decided earlier this year to move him to a school closer to home because of the drive, and the students in his class now are likely the ones he will go to elementary school with. We absolutely loved the school he was at last year, but knew this would be a better fit for our family. So here’s how we spent the last few weeks of summer! (Oh and in my head, I’m the only one who reads these blog posts and I think of it as my little journal to have to read back on in the years to come – I’m a very sentimental person who remembers dates and when things happened really well)!
We found out Dockery has a real love for all things sweets – ice cream, popsicles – you name it, he wants it! A lot of our days were spent at the pool with something sweet in our hands!
As seen here too on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Yummy ice cream and games at the tables to keep him occupied. He played Connect 4 for almost 45 minutes. I went to Target the very next day to get Connect 4 for him and he played with it all of about 10 minutes and hasn’t touched it since. Oh toddlers!
My dad and stepmom were here for a few days at the beginning of July!
Wearing our red, white and blue for the 4th! This white maxi dress is one of my favorite purchases this summer! I have worn it more than I expected and it’s been a piece that I have reached for, for a few different occasions. It’s a classic dress that will definitely be a staple in my closet for the next few years.
And then we headed back to Louisiana with my dad! Of course we couldn’t let this trip go by without seeing Mike!
After a few days of family fun and seeing old friends, my mom and niece came back to Florida with us! We spent the afternoon one day at the beach and had so much fun!
We celebrated National Ice Cream Day in our Cabana Life!
More fun times at the pool while friends were in town visiting!
There’s a restaurant near our house that we go to every so often and they have a rooster that walks around. Dockery was so funny putting his hands on his hips talking to the rooster.
3 year wellness check for this guy! This face he makes is so funny – it’s the look at me face loving what he’s doing but not really wanting us to know he’s loving it.
Another huge milestone was his first haircut! We put it off for so long (which I don’t recommend) and decided he needed a big boy haircut for going back to school. And I took a lot of pictures the day of so I would remember his curls! This was at the pool…
We probably cut off 5-6 inches! It was so long and the curls are gone, but I know it’s time for him to be a big boy!
And yesterday he started school! He did so well on his first day and was so excited to see friends and his teacher! I think it’s going to be a great year!
Thank you for sticking with me this summer! I have lots of blog posts up my sleeve and I’m getting excited to share end of summer style and Fall pieces! I’m on the hunt for transitional pieces to add to my closet and to share with you!
