Have you heard of the “Coastal Grandmother” trend going around? If you have ever seen It’s Complicated or Something’s Got To Give by Nancy Meyers, that’s the look and feel of this coastal grandmother vibe. When I grow up, I hope to dress like Diane Keaton, have a house on the ocean with nothing but rattan, whites, home cooked meals with white wine and go to bed reading a book in crisp white sheets. We can all dream right?! The style of coastal grandmother is one that I think I sort of gravitate towards a few times a week. Think longer shorts, linen, guazy materials, neturals, whites and stripes. I thought I would give my take on this trend in a way that the modern mom can appreciate and relate to.
The dress above is preppy and reminds me of something a coastal grandmother/mom would wear. I love the different color stripes, classic silhouette and ease of this breezy shirtdress. Pack it on your next vacation and wear it while reading a book on the beach. If your style has the coastal grandmother trend going, then your home will most likely want to look the same way. I added some home pieces in the collage below that I think fit the feel of the trend.
white linen shorts | white gauze pants | straw hat | round sunglasses | gold hoop earrings
wicker picture frame | beach image on canvas | ceramic LED lamp | bamboo coasters | wooden serving bowl
white dress | striped elbow sleeve sweater | white button down | zippered pouch | farmers market basket
I threw this outfit on below one day a few weeks ago and really felt the coastal grandmother vibes. It’s all about white on white/cream on white, crewneck sweaters and feeling comfortable, yet classic.
Do you love the coastal grandmother trend?! Have a wonderful Friday!
