Hi, friends! Can you believe it’s already the end of February?! It’s like I blinked and we are already to March! Crazy! Last week I shared a new series I started, talking all about closet staples. If you missed it, you can check out 4 ways I styled a chambray top. Today, I’m styling my next favorite closet staple – the DENIM JACKET! This one is so easy for me! I’ve worn a denim jacket nonstop for years! I actually remember the first one I bought as an adult. I was getting ready to take a trip to New York in college and came across a denim jacket while shopping with my mom. It was a lighter wash, a little distressed and a tad cropped, but I wore that thing so much on that trip and the years to come. As my taste started to change after my college years, I purchased a classic looking one from JCrew Factory. I wish it was still available because I have worn that thing way too many times to count, including to work a few times a week! I’m sure at some point my coworkers thought I didn’t have any other jacket besides that denim jacket. Last year I purchased a new one and it’s been on repeat with this weather going from hot to cold.
I was talking to a friend the other day and she mentioned how she has had a denim jacket in her closet for years but never wears it because she doesn’t know how! I would say a denim jacket is one of the easiest things to style. Pair it with white denim, shorts, leggings, over short dresses, over maxi dresses and rompers to make an outfit feel complete. When looking for denim jackets there are 2 things I look for – the wash and fit. I prefer a medium wash, no distressing and a classic fit that hits right at the hips.
Here are ways I have worn a denim jacket.
