Hello December 1st! Now that we are officially in the Christmas season, I wanted to share some Christmas traditions we have and ones we are looking forward to starting. I mentioned in a previous post about our tradition of cutting down the Christmas tree when I was growing up. This tradition started when I was a little girl, maybe even before I was born (I’ll have to ask my mom) up until about 3 years ago. It was one that carried over into my sister bringing her 3 (triplet) daughters over to this Christmas tree farm about 45 minutes away every year on Thanksgiving. We would all look forward to it and I’m so glad my husband was able to join in on the tradition for several years. Sadly, the tree farm closed a few years ago and every year after that we went to a local nursery called Louisiana Nursery to pick out our Christmas tree. Their trees are beautiful and the nursery is so nice, that it felt special to us. Over the past few weeks, I was contemplating where we would get our Christmas tree from now that we are in Florida. Since our son is totally into HoHo this year, I wanted to make it a memorable experience for not only him but the 3 of us together picking out our first tree for our new home. The Saturday after Thanksgiving (we usually never wait that long after Thanksgiving) we hopped in the car and started driving to get our Christmas tree. We ended up at a great local church here called Waypoint Church and I must say they were amazing. The trees were beautiful and the guys were so helpful and were even so nice to take our picture.
I have been wearing this tunic sweater nonstop and its 40% off! So many different ways wear it – with blanket scarf (so many pretty prints!) over it like I did here, throw a faux fur vest or long cardigan over it or a statement necklace or layered necklace would be so pretty to dress it up.

This little guy had so much fun pretending to help pick out a Christmas tree and load it on the car! It was hard to get a good picture of him because he wouldn’t stay still for a minute.
Now that our sweet boy is getting into the Christmas spirit, it’s important to us to have memorable experiences as a family for the holiday season. I met up with a sweet friend this week here and we were having the conversation of providing experiences over things for our children during this time of year. She has a blog called Trekking Twice where she documents 2 special trips she takes every year with her family. She will be traveling to Guatemala next week with her family to add to their memorable experiences for the holiday season. I think it’s such a great idea! My husband and I were discussing this last night and we both agree that having those experiences with your children trump tangible toys they will only play with for a short amount of time. We are hoping to plan a special trip next year as a family during this time of year!
Last year, we started the tradition of Elf on the Shelf. He liked the idea of seeing the Elf everyday around the house but he was a little too young to understand it. This year, we were able to read the story to him and he gets so excited to look for it in the morning (when we remember to move it)!
We are also attending our first community Christmas event tonight! It’s supposed to be the best event that is put on all year with the lighting of the Christmas tree, Santa and lights everywhere! I am really looking forward to it!
I can also remember watching all of the Christmas movies that came on during the season when I was growing up! The Polar Express is high on our list to watch this year!
And lastly, just being intentional with time and really enjoying this holiday season. It seems to pass so quickly!

I would love to hear what traditions you have with you and your family. I am always looking to add more to take in the holiday season!
