Good morning, friends! How has your week been? We’ve had a busy one here lately! My mom has been here all week and we’ve had the golf tournament going on! Last weekend my husband and I, along with good friends, decided to take a 2-day trip to Walt Disney World! Both of our husbands work every weekend and for once, they both had the weekend off! We decided the Sunday before to go, booked our tickets and tried to schedule as many fast passes as we could. The next Saturday morning rolled around and we headed for Orlando! We live about 2 hours north of Disney World, so leaving early in the morning will get us there right when the parks open. We had plans to do 2 parks each day to get the most out of our park hoppers.
When we visited Disney World last summer for Dockery’s 3rd birthday, the only park we visited was Magic Kingdom. For this trip, we knew we wanted to do a few things there first and then head on to other parks. Saturday morning started off at Magic Kingdom, where we had fast passes for Barnstormer, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Buzz Lightyear. Although Barnstormer was a little faster than we thought, the little guy had fun! Dumbo was a little more our speed, but Buzz Lightyear was Dockery’s favorite probably because he scored his own actual Buzz at the end of the ride.
After a morning in Magic Kingdom, we hopped on the monorail to get to Epcot. Well, the monorail had other plans for us and we got stuck on it for a good 30 minutes in the heat. Not exactly in the plans, but we made the most of it and decided to take a detour to The Polynesian hotel bar to grab a drink in the air conditioner. After cooling off and letting the kids sit down for a rest, we headed to Epcot! We missed our fast passes so we made our way through Mexico, met Donald Duck and then headed to Norway for a visit with Anna and Elsa! By this time, we had such a long day that we called it a night and headed to the town house for a good night’s sleep.
Day 2 started with a large coffee in hand and lots of pep in our step! We were ready for Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom! I was really excited about this day because these were both parks I was really looking forward to. First stop was Hollywood Studios and even though we didn’t have any fast passes (we booked them for Animal Kingdom this day) we immediately were entertained by running into Donald Duck and Daisy. After a fun meeting with them, we realized that the little guy was so into meeting characters so we looked for more around the park and made our way to meet Olaf. Next stop was Toy Story Land where it was packed with people! This part of the park was something that was high on our list because Dockery has really been into Toy Story! We ran into army men doing their thing on the drums and a meeting with Buzz, which was the highlight of Dockery’s trip by this point! Lunch outside and a Frozen show (highly recommend – so funny!) rounded out Hollywood Studios!
Our last stop for the trip was Animal Kingdom! What helped with moving so fast on this trip without a ton of fast passes, was not having high expectations to see and do everything! For me, it was more of just being at Disney World with my little family. If we were able to do something, great! If not, we kept on going. One thing we knew we wanted to do was the safari ride at Animal Kingdom. We had one fast pass to meet Mickey and then we headed to the long 55 minute line to wait for the safari ride. I loaded us up with snacks, water for the little guy and beers in hand for the adults while we waited. This was the best surprise for us on this trip because the line moved so fast, and we ended up only waiting about 25 minutes. We happily jumped on and moved passed so many different animals! Highly recommend the safari even if you don’t have a fast pass – well worth the wait! We made our way back to the front of the park, picked up a last few souvenirs and headed out!
